About the artist
Angela Dizon (b. Quezon City, Philippines) is a ceramicist based in New York. Their work highlights the rituals and obsessive thinking that underly everyday life, romanticizing the mundane and exalting the physical.
Working from a range of sources, they’re inspired by their Filipino culture, including precolonial folk traditions and the legacy of Catholicism. Their byname, Sisilim, is Kapampangan for “dusk”, a nod to in-between moments and liminal spaces.
So-called “spikes” and “bubbles” appear in much of their work, evoking the repetition present in intentional, ceremonial rites as well as everyday incidents.
Dizon was born in Metro Manila but raised in the Chicago area. They received their BS from New York University in Media, Culture, and Communications with a minor in Art History.
